Joseph Moriarty

Birth Name Joseph Moriarty
Gender male

Narrative

I suspect that Joseph might be Mary Burns' son, since he was born in Ireland, but I'm leaving him with Mary Reardon, since that is where the rootsweb database, MYFAM8, owned by Dennis Murphy, puts him.

Moriarty, Lawrence, 80, no occupation, did not work in past year,

Joseph, 36, son, single, works in iron mill, unemployed 4 months in past year, cannot read or write

==============
This could be the naturalization information for this Joseph Moriarty, son of Lawrence and either Mary Burns or Mary Reardon. The information agrees with the approximate birth of Joseph, approximate arrival of the family in the US, and the fact that he couldn't write, as Joseph said on the 1880 Census. If so, then the Moriartys were from County Kerry.

Note: There were two in the Newburgh section of Cleveland, but one lived on Axwell (later E. 78th) for his adult life, including the years 1887 and 1891, and this information is for a man living on Stafford Street in 1888.
