Henrietta Wizotzki
Birth Name | Henrietta Wizotzki |
Gender | female |
Age at Death | about 51 years, 10 months, 28 days |
Narrative
There is a baptismal record for an Auguste Orzechowski on 12 Aug 1866 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Strasburg, then part of West Prussia, now Germany. Her parents are named Wilhelm Orzechowski and Heinriette Wysocki.
In addition, Henrietta's sister Christina married a man named August Marquardt, whom a website at ancestry.com said was born in Strasburg, West Prussia. (see his notes.)
Also, Henrietta and Willam once said they were born in Poland, or were Polish, although most of the records said Gemany.
Finally, their son Charles (who changed his name to Clark) married Mathilda Johanna Biastoch. In 1920, her census information said she was born in Germany, as well as both of Charles' parents, , but "Pom" had been crossed out next to all of them. Her Social Security Application says she was born in Stettin Pome, Federal Republic of Germany.
So I think that Wilhelm Orzechowski and Heinriette Wysocki are at least from that area of Germany and if Auguste, baptized 12 Aug 1866, is their daughter, then they are from Strasburg, West Prussia.
Narrative
When her son Edward was born Dec 5, 1881, Henrietta's maiden name was recorded as Wizotzki.
When Edward married (1) on June 14, 1906, he said it was Henrietta Sarkoski
When Edward married (2) on May 14, 1918, he said it was Yetta Phillips.
When her son Fred was married on 3 March 1909, he said his mother's maiden name was Vesocki.
When her son Fred applied for Social Security in 1937, he said it was Veslickey.

1880 Census, Cleveland, Supervisors District 6, ED 3B, page 46, ancestry.com image 46 [The census taker wrote down "Kaufski" and the record is indexed as Kaufski at familysearch.org. I found it by browsing.]
William Kaufski, 39, laborer, born in Prussia, parents also Note: I am going to assume that "Catherine" is their daughter Henrietta, or "Minnie". If the census taker can hear "Orshakovski" and write down "Kaufski", then maybe he heard "Minnie" or "Minna" and wrote down "Catherine". Minnie was younger than Herman and older than Frederick, and should be in this household, being born in 1872. |

Event Note
When their son Edward was born Dec 5, 1881, William and Henrietta were living at 34 Berg Street, Cleveland. This became became 803 Berg Avenue SE after the 1906 Cleveland street reorganization. It is no longer there. It sounds like it was near the Central Market at 4th and Bolivar, now where the Quicken Arena is (2015). There son Fred was working at the Sheriff Street Market at 4th and Bolivar in 1918. Conclusions based on the article "JEWS & JUDAISM" in The Encyclopedia of Cleveland History, at http://ech.case.edu/cgi/article.pl?id=JJ, which mentions Berg Street. |
