A researcher in the church records doesn't think either William Rogers or Elizabeth Murphy were native to Kilbroney. William is the only Rogers she has found in the records. She also points out that none of the sponsors for their children's baptisms are named Rogers or Murphy, possibly showing a lack of relatives in the immediate area. She thinks that William may have moved from either Kilkeel or Mourne to Kilbroney after his marriage.

	General Griffith's Valuation of Ballincurry, taken in 1864, shows a William Rogers renting just a home and no land from Hugh Brennan. His daughter Ellen said she was "of Ballincurry" when marrying John Rourke in 1871, and that her father was a laborer (not a farmer.)		2
