Orland Man 46th To Be Arraigned In Gambling Probe
An Orland man was arraigned yesterday in Penobscot county superior court on two secret indictments returned by the grand jury probing gambling activities in this area.
Augustus E Paige entered pleas of innocent to counts of conspiracy to operate a lottery and being concerned in a lottery. He furnished $1500 bonds pending hearing.
Paige was the 46th respondent to appear in answer to indictments returned by the grand jury. The others were arraigned Tuesday.
Officials expected that sentencing of those who have entered pleas of guilty to gambling charges may start tomorrow.
