from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory website Frederick S. Blanchard Lab retiree Frederick Blanchard died Nov. 20 from complications of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was 92. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on Aug. 3, 1917, he moved with his family to California when he was six years old. He met and married his wife, Barbara Rose, in Stockton, Calif., in 1941. They had one daughter, Kathleen. They moved to Livermore in 1951 and lived there for the next 58 years. Blanchard worked for the Lab as a foreman in the template shop, retiring after 25 years. He was involved in the fabrication of materials for the Department of Defense. He was involved in the Livermore Amateur Radio Club for many years and enjoyed communicating with many friends on his Ham radio. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2007. Blanchard is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Stevens of Livermore; grandsons, Paul Nagel of El Dorado Hills and Brian Nagel of Fresno; granddaughter, Deborah Winoski of Suffolk, Va.; great-granddaughters Jessica and Erin Nagel of Fresno; Desiree Stevens of Suffolk, Va.; Kayla Nagel of El Dorado Hills; and great-grandsons, Joshua Nagel of Fresno; Steven Nagel of El Dorado Hills; and Christopher Winoski of Suffolk, Va.
