Samuel L. Gorgas was one of the executors of his father-in-law Joseph Kern 's will. At her own request, Catharine Ann's share in the estate was to be divided between her brother Samuel M. and her sister Eleanor. Samuel Gorgas is on the 1860 to 1880 Census of Derry, Westmoreland County, with a second family: a wife Malvina, a son Ferdinand, and a daughter Mary Ann. Malvina died by 1900 and Samuel and his daughter Mary Ann Young were together in Derry. His son Ferdinand, a dentist, was living there also.
