Francis J. Hurley

Funeral Mass for Francis J. Hurley, 93, of Kirtland, will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Divine Word Catholic Church, 8100 Eagle Road, in Kirtland.

Mr. Hurley died Nov. 8, 2004, at Heartland of Mentor.

Born March 22, 1911, in Cleveland, he lived in Mantua, Cleveland and Lakewood before moving to Kirtland four years ago.

He was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua, where he was in the Holy Name Society and volunteered for a number of organizations at the church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was a 4th degree Grand Knight and loved to work outdoors at his home in Mantua. He was very appreciative of the special care he received from everyone at the Governor's Pointe Assisted Living.

Mr. Hurley was a retired chief clerk for Norfolk-Southern/Nickel Plate Railroad, where he worked for 48 years.

Survivors are his daughter ... grandchildren ... seven grandchildren [sic] ... cousin ... and several nieces and nephews.

His wife, Virginia Hurley; half-sister, Coletta Conway; brother, Vincent Hurley; and half-brother, Emmett Hurley, are deceased.

Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., in Mentor. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
