Narrative
Family information said that John's grandparents' farm was at one end or the other of McCracken Road in Cleveland and that the family was fairly well off. A rootsweb database says John's grandfather's residence was on Union Ave when he died.

John was still living at 4025 E. 89th St. when his grandfather, Ned Rodgers died on 16 Nov 1916. John was the informant on Ned Rodgers' death record.

When he registered for the draft in WWI, John was married and living at 7903 Jones Rd., Cleveland, and working as a foreman for the Cleveland water department. He was of medium height and build, with grey eyes and brown hair. (Source: WWI Draft Registrations at ancestry.com.)
In 1920 they were living with May's mother at 7437 Clement, around the corner from William and Ann O'Rourke. (1920 Census, 15th Ward of Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio. Series T625, Roll 1367, Page 159 or 14B?) In 1930 they were in their own home at 2425 E. 124th, and had May's mother and brother with them. They later retired to St. Petersburg, FL.

John McCracken
John E. McCacken, 79, 2482 36th Ave. N, died Saturday (May 15, 1971). Mr. McCracken was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and came here 19 years ago from there. He was a retired clerk for the municipal court in Cleveland; and a member of St. Paul's Catholic Chruch. He is survived by his wife
May; a brother, William P. O'Rourke of St. Petersburg; five sisters, Mrs. ellen Guarnier, Mrs. Anne Telzrow, Mrs. Theresa O'rourk, Mrs. Lucy Hamilton, all of Cleveland, and Mrs. Elizabeth Sackerson of Birmingham, Mich. R. Lee Williams Funeral Home is in charge.
