MR WARREN A BURR
Navy Man Passes Away; Funeral to Be Held Here

Mr Warren Albert Burr, age 44, of Louisiana, died last Friday at Jackson Memorial hospital, Miami, Florida. Death was caused by a brief but fatal illness.

A cabin boy at the age of 13 years, he was a member of the United States navy for 20 years, during which time he served on 28 different ships and went around the world four times. He was two years in the war zone during the World war.

As a cabin boy on a whaler at the age of 13, Burr with the rest of the crew, was icebound in the Bering sea off Alaska for two years.

Returning to the states he joined the United States navy, and for 13 years previous to his retirement in December, 1930, was chief machinist mate. During his service Mr Burr was stationed for four years in China.

A resident of Miami, Florida, for the past two years and a member of the fleet naval reserve of Charleston, he is survived by his widow, Mrs Willie Mims Burr; a son, Warren Jr., and a daughter, Lorraine, of Boston, Mass; a stepson Charles Dickson, and a stepdaughter, Mrs Violette Bailey/Batley? of Miami.

Mr Burr was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. His body will be brought to Charleston for funeral services and nterment. The arrrangements will be announced later by Stuhr's funeral home.

Funeral Services in Afternoon, Interment at Bethany Cemetery

Funeral services for Mr Warren Albert Burr, of Louisiana, who died last Friday at the Jackson Memorial hospital, Miami, will be helt at 4:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Seventh Day Adventist church. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery, directed by Stuhr's. Mr Burr was a member of the United States navy for twenty years, and at the time of his retirement in 1930 was chief machinist mate.
