I do hereby certify that the banns of marriage between Joseph Gratton of the chapelry of Barlow, and Martha Parker of the Parish of Dronfield in the county aforesaid, have been duly published in the Chapel of Barlow aforesaid, on three several Sundays viz. December 16th, 23rd, and 30th, now last past, and that no cause or just impediment hath been declared, why they may not be joined together in holy Matrimony.

Banns of Marriage between Joseph Gratton of the parish or chapelry of Great Barlow and Martha Parker of Bullclose in this parish were published according to act of Parlament December 16th, 23rd, and 30th 1787 and they married in this Church by virtue of the said Banns published, this second day of January in the year 1788 by me J Russell, Curate.

This marriage was solemnized between us Joseph Gratton [note: a poor signature] [and] Martha Parker her X mark
in the presence of Thomas Drabble and John Parker

I have put James Gratton, husband of Ann Jenkinson, in this family because all his census records said he was born in Barlow. There is only one Gratton family in Barlow in this time period, namely that of Joseph and Martha Parker Gratton.
