On 9 Jun 1900, Matthew Sloan arrived in the United States aboard the HMS Campania, which had left from Liverpool. His age is given as 21, his last residence was Newry, he could read/write, and he had not been in the United States before. His destination was the home of a friend in Cleveland. Listed immediately before him was James O'Rourke, the brother of William O' Rourke. (William married Matthew Sloan's wife's sister Ann.) There were three other people in this group. All five had the same previous residence and same destination. The others were James Murney, age 21, and a married couple Richard (age 24) and Rose (age 28) Farrell.
