Narrative
from William Watkins' research:
"A Ludwig Ahrens, age 17, (b abt 1838), from Karcheez, Mecklenberg, immigrated on the Ship Rhein from Hamburg to New York, on 1 Sept 1855. He was accompanied by Mina Ahrens, age 20, and possibly others of different surname. This is very possibly our man. However, Ludwig/Louis Ahrens is a fairly common name and there are a sufficient number, both here and in Germany, to make positive identification difficult.
