Ohio Families

I have concluded that this man is the father of George Willard Berry for these reasons:

1. The McDonald Family Tree on rootsweb, at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:761934&id=I632, says that George's parents were Hyman Lysander Berry and Martha Brock. We know George's mother was named Martha because she was living with him on the censuses. Both she and George died at the same address.

2. That tree says that Hyman Lysander had a daughter named Louisa Martina who married Richard McDonald on 8 Apr 1874 in Hamilton, Ontario. The image of the marriage record shows that a George W Berry, of Oil Springs, Ontario, was a witness to the marriage.

3. There is a Hyman and Martha Berry, just married, living in Malone, New York, in 1850 in the household of Ebenezer Berry. George Willard Berry's death record said that George was born in Malone, New York.

Hyman Lysander is called Willard Berry on the death record of his son George Willard. The informant was George's son Cecil. If Hyman Lysander had left his wife years before, it is understandable that his grandson would not know his correct name.

I suspect that this man listed below is Hyman Lysander Berry, son of Ebenezer, and husband of Martha Brock. The 1860 Census of Jefferson, IN, also records a George and Willard Berry, who were born in New York and were the same age as Hyman's brothers. The three of them may have moved to Indiana.

I haven't found Hyman Lysander Berry on any other records beside the 1850 Census, so there is no record tying him directly to George Willard Berry, but I have concluded that this man is the father of George Willard Berry for these reasons:
