Narrative

Various biographies of Charles' descendants provide various dates and places for Charles' birth in France, his arrival on Cape Cod, his time spent on Cape Cod, and his age at death.

To summarize, he may have been born in Le Havre or Bordeaux as early as 1768 or as late as 1779. He arrived on the Cape in 1786 and ived there for 24 years or he arrived in 1792. He was as young as 52 when he died or as old as 63.

We know from the births of his children that he left the Cape between Charles' birth September 16, 1808, in Chatham, and the birth of Asa in Bucksport (Buckstown) in October 1812.

We also know that Charles (Sr) died in Bangor in 1831 (from probate records?) His 1820 Census says he was born before 1775.
