Mrs J Hankard Taken by Death
The news of the death after a lingering illness of Mrs John A Hankard, the former Abbie E Page, in Brighton, Sunday, was heard with regret by her many friends and acquaintances in East Boston where she was born about 60 years ago. Prior to her removal to Brighton, she had resided for a few years in Beverly where her late husband, the son of John Hankard (who was one of the committee of the A. F. who secured the 8 hour day, for the boilermakers of Boston) had been employed.
For many years Mrs Hankard had lived on London St and during that time was one of the most active and valued workers of the Holy Redeemer parish. Her funeral was held Wednesday from the home of her son, John J Hankard, 7 Hunnewell Ave, Brighton, followed by a high mass of requiem at the Church of Our Lady of the Presentation.
