Ohio Families

There are some things about this family's records that are uncertain, but a few things seem to pull it together:
1) the indexed records of the births of three girls in Wales who match the daughters in this family, who all said later in life they were born in Wales,
2) the immigration list of the mother and daughters arriving together, and
3) the fact that the death records of three of the women included as daughters all named the same couple as parents.

Peter/Patrick Howard seems to have used both given names. "Peter" might have been his legal name, and he might have been known to his family as "Patrick." Assuming the correct immigration record was found, he used Peter when entering the country, and was called Peter on his death record. But his death notice calls him Patrick, and all the information supplied by his daughters and grandchildren call him Patrick.

The marriage of Patrick and Margaret in England or Wales was not found in the index at http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/.

There is a Peter Howard, age 24, laborer, who arrived from England on 5 Feb 1880, aboard the ship "England" which left from Liverpool. This might be Peter arriving a few months ahead of his family.

His wife and children arrived on 8 September 1880, aboard the ship Wyoming, which had left from Liverpool and Queenstown. Their listing looks like this:

The ages of the younger daughters doesn't match, but it is on a following page and doesn't make sense by itself either. Also, this is the only mention of Jane except for her birth, and the only mention but one of Bridget by that name. (Castle Garden website.)
