Narrative

The sponsors at Edward's baptism were Edward Colgan and Margaret Roarke.

The sponsors at the wedding of Edward Rourke and Rose Fagan were Bernard Sloan and Ann Fegan.

There is an Edward Rourke living in Ballintur in 1864 listed on Griffith's Valuation. This Edward leased 16+ acres from the Trustees of the Kilmorey Estate. Likely this had been his father's farm and Edward took it over when his father died. Edward was subletting a house and small garden to William Flannagan, since Mr. Flannagan's immediate lessor is Edward Rourke.

These are the parcels in Ballintur that Edward occupied, according to the Valuation Revision Books. The first two parcels must have been John Rourke's farm. Edward split it with his brother John in 1867, then John took over these parcel numbers. Edward's parcels were then numbered 23D and 23Ea. He evidently acquired 23Eb and 24 about 1885.
