When his son John J was born in 1898, the record said John was born about 1867.
His 1900 Census said he was born in July 1866.
His death record said he was born March 17, 1872.

This might be John's birth record, from images at http://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/. The parents' names match those on the death record of his brother Peter (1918, Cleveland). The location is a bit different from what might be Peter's birth record. See Peter's records.

I didn't find a match anywhere in the baptisms at findmypast for this civil registration birth of John Durkan. Nor is it in the images of Kilmactigue Parish at nli.ie. The Curry Parish baptisms don't start until October 1867.

This is the information found on the index card for the Cleveland Naturalizations. But the volume and page match a John W Durkin, born April 16, 1865, in Bilston, England, who was naturalized on March 25, 1893. John Durkin is also indexed that way in the original handwritten court Naturalization Docket for 1880 to 1910.

His address on the card is correct. His age when naturalized would match the "John Dortin" naturalized on March 25, 1893.

Is he this man? The records written by the court say "Dortin" but he signed "Dorkin". Curry, Ireland, is very close to Aclare, which matches his possible birth record.
