Abigail Hook

Birth Name Abigail Hook
Gender female
Age at Death about 88 years

Narrative

Abigail's birth year is arrived at from the 1850 and 1860 Censuses. The 1870 Census, with her daughter, would make her a few years older. (1870 Veazie, M593, Roll 555, Page 442, census page 10) Her age at death, on the cemetery inscription would place her birth in Oct 1779.

Abigail is enumerated in the 1870 Census with the Luke Page household (her son in law.) The census was taken as of June 1. The cemetery transcription says Abigail died April 28. One of them is in error.

In 1850 and 1870 her census information said she was born in NH. In 1860 it said she was born in Maine. Her family, at least, might have come f om NH. She might be the daughter of John Hook and Abigail Young, born 2 Oct 1748, daughter of Aaron Young and Abigail Dudley, but this is pure speculation. If so, she and her husband James were first cousins.
