Friday, 15 Dec 1899
NO 49, VOLUME XXXIII
LOCAL AND PERSONAL
Mr. James W. Kern, a well-known citizen of Altoona, died at his home
in that city on Tuesday afternoon, his death being due to a stroke of
apoplexy received a few hours before his death. Mr. Kern was born in
Johnstown, April 24, 1845, and had resided the greater part of his
life in Indiana county, where he followed the occupation of farming.
He removed to Altoona about three years ago. He is survived by a widow
and nine children. Mrs. T.W. Dick, of Ebensburg, is a visitor of the
deceased."
