Narrative

After her first husband, John Billups died, Jane worked to support her family. In 1851, Jane was a servant for a family in March. (Census transcription, Film HO107/1765, Folio 632A, at Cambridge Family History Society, www.cfhs.org.uk.) The children, indexed as Bullups, from Susannah (called Sarah) through Henry were in Wimblington. Susannah, age 18, was head of the household. This was the next household to their aunt and uncle, Isaac and Mary (Davison) Golding. (1851 Census of Wimblington, at ancestry.com. Dist/Subdist: No. Witchford/Chatteris. E.D. 1A. HO107/1765. Folio 554, page 3, household 10.)

Jane remarried in Doddington on 6 Apr 1857 to William Golding/ Goulding. (International Genealogical Index at familysearch.org.)

In 1861 the Gouldings [with that spelling] were all on the census of Dist. 10, New Church, Lancashire. William was age 70, Jane age 51. With them were Jane's children from her first marriage, with an incorrect surname, Henry and Naomi "Goulding," ages 15 and 19. All four were working in a cotton mill. (1861 Census Newchurch, Lancashire,Ecclesiatical parish: St John.Registration district:Haslingden Sub-registration district: Newchurch RG9/3053 Folio: 101 Page: 9.)

Jane (Davison) Billups Golding/Goulding evidently died in Wigan, Lancashire, the 1st Qtr of 1862. Her second husband evidently died in Wigan the 1st Qtr of 1863. (Either Civil Registration Index at ancestry.com or freebmd.rootsweb.com.)
