SUICIDES IN SHEFFIELD. Information was given to the police authorities yesterday of two persons who had committed suicide. One was that of a woman named Mary Ann Peach, who lived at No. 5, Chester street. She got up yesterday morning [went] downstairs as usual, and a little later when a lodger came he found her hanging by rope fastened to the kitchen door.

She was cut down, and Mr. Skinner, surgeon, was sent for, but the woman was dead. There are various rumours in the neighbourhood as to the circumstances which led her to take her life; but the truth appears to be that she has passed through considerable trouble, and of late has been much depressed in spirits.

THE SUICIDE IN CHESTER STREET.

An inquest was held yesterday at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Division street, by Mr. Wightman, on the body of Mary Ann Peach, who lived at No. 5, Chester street, and who committed suicide on Saturday, under circumstances already reported. Lately the deceased had been in great trouble, partly from the misdoings of one of her sons, and partly from other causes; and on Sunday she was found hanging by a rope, which was attached to two hooks in the kitchen. Verdict: That the deceased committed suicide whilst temporarily [insane] was returned.
