Narrative

John and Jane (Davison) Billups were living in Wimblington, Cambridge, England, in 1841. (Cambridgeshire 1841 Census Index at www.cfhs.org.uk.) When their son Henry was born in 1843 at Wimblington, North Witchford, John was a tailor. John signed the birth record with "his x mark", indicating he could not write.(Photocopy of 2nd son named Henry's birth record.)

John died in March 1847 of typhus. (English Billups transcription of certificates.)

In 1851, Jane was a servant for a family in March. (Census transcription, Film HO107/1765, Folio 632A, at Cambridge Family History Society, www.cfhs.org.uk.) Their children, indexed as Bullups, from Susannah (called Sarah) through Henry were in Wimblington. Susannah, age 18, was head of the household.
