I didn't find him from 1898 to 1900. He is not the James Sloan, longshoreman, at 43 Tradd in the 1901 Directory. That man was a carpenter born in Georgia, as were his parents, according to the 1900 Census.

Mrs James P Sloan
Mrs Ellen Prunty Sloan, widow of James Patrick Sloan, of 315 East Bay Street, died today at a local infirmary.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by McAlister's.

A native of Charleston, Mrs. Sloan was a daughter of Patrick Prunty and Catherine Hart Prunty, both of Ireland.

She was educated in the schools of Charleston and was a member of St Joseph's Roman Catholic church.

Surviving are a sister, Miss Julia Prunty; a nephew, John J Reilly; four nieces, Sister Rita, of Columbia, Sister M Agatha, of Highston, N.J., Mrs Arthur R Beck, of Norfolk, Va, and Mrs Charles Roland, of Joliet, Ill.

Funeral services for Mrs Ellen Prunty Slown, widow of James Patrick Sloan, will be held at St Joseph's Roman Catholic church at 10 a.m. today.

... burial, directed by McAlister's, will be in St Lawrence cemetery. Mrs Sloan, who resided at 315 East Bay Street, died Monday at a local infirmary.

A native of Charleston, Mrs. Sloan was a daughter of Patrick Prunty and Catherine Hart Prunty, both of Ireland. She was educated in the schools of Charleston and was a member of St Joseph's Roman Catholic church.

Pallberrers will be Ignatius Donnaghue, George H Meldan, Leon A Mandich, Harry M Samson, James J McDonald, Anthony Pinto, and John P Connally.

Surviving are a sister, a nephew and four nieces.
