There is a posting on the Cambria County message board on rootsweb.com that says the following:

"I have recent information that my great great grandfather was one of the first to work in the Cambria Iron Company. His name was David McClelland. He arrived in Philadelphia in 1844 from County Down in Ireland. He then went on to Johnstown PA and lived there until 1875 and moved on to Ligonier PA. He was married to Margaret Hammond"

This couple are Thomas' parents, David and Margaret McClelland. They are in Fairfield, Westmoreland County in 1880, with seven children, including Thomas.
