Birth Name | Mary Ann Crum |

Age at Death | 62 years, 3 months, 24 days |
Narrative
The census records give Mary Ann Crum's first name. Her daughter Emma's marriage application gives her middle name and her husband's obituary provided her last name.
She might be the daughter of Nicholas Crum (b. 8 Dec 1795, Maryland, d. 5 May 1862, presumed Portage, PA) and Paulina Knepper (b. abt 1790, Croyle Twp., Cambria, PA, d. 24 Feb 1834, presumed Portage.) Their family records in the PAF files at familysearch.org include a daughter Mary Ann born 13 Jan 1823. Someone may have transposed the date when transcribing, or her exact age at death may be a few days off.
I have included Mary Ann in their family for the time being, but she might be the daughter of one of Nicholas' brothers or cousins.
My source for the birth date of Nicholas Crum's daughter named Mary Ann was originally the PAF files at familysearch.org, and the chesnu.ged database at rootsweb, updated on Nov 9, 2003. Both were posted by the same person, Charles M Chestnutwood, who has since died. The rootsweb database is at: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=cmarkc&id=I672
In that database, Mr Chestnutwood cites the following source for the exact dates for the children of Nicholas Crum: !BIR-MARR-DEATH:Letter from James W. Constable, 24 April 1992, (Crum File)(788).
I tracked down someone who sent me a photocopy of Mr. Constable's letter to Mr Chestnutwood. The letter includes the dates of Nicholas Crum's children's births. They are the same as what Mr Chestnutwood posted online. In the letter, Mr Constable says that his source is yet another person's copy of the original family Bible record.
I have not yet traced down the owner of the Nicholas Crum family Bible, nor seen a photocopy of the original pages.
In September 2014, I looked through the probate files from Pennsylvania on the familysearch.org site. I did not find anything for Nicholas or Paulina Crum in the wills, estates, or proceedings index section. I was hoping to find something that named their children.
