Joseph Hamilton
Birth Name | Joseph Hamilton |
Gender | male |
Age at Death | 51 years, 11 months, 11 days |
Narrative
A few notes about Joseph that don't fit anywhere else.
Joseph is listed on Plaque 12 of the Ebensburg War Memorial, Ebensburg, Cambria County, PA. (Verified by descendant.)
I was told growing up that Joseph and Eckie lost everything they owned in the flood, except for Eckie's mother's Bible, which she was able to save. However a descendant of Louis Kiel Hamilton has a few pieces of furniture that they salvaged as well.
Within eight years, from 1881 to 1889, Joseph lost his father (1881), his mother (1885), two daughters (1881), his job, his home and almost all his possessions (1889).
On January 7, 1892, Joseph applied for an invalid's pension at the age of 45. (Photocopy of application in possession of a descendant.)
