I think Carrie and Fannie were twins, and the birth dates given in the 19 00 Census are a result of either different enumerators calculating birth y ears differently or different actual days of the census. They are bo th 9 in 1880, and the Jessie Davis database at rootsweb gives the same exa ct birthdate, 16 Jul 1873, for both.
Fannie was still single in 1920, living with her sister Emma Montgomery.(1 920 Census Ward 11, Pittsburgh, Series T625, Roll 1518, Page 7B. ED 485.)
